Academic Appointments
Adjunct Professor, History Department, Tidewater Community College (TCC)                     2008-Present
I had the honor of teaching in the classroom at Tidewater Community College, working with learners aged 17-90 from various socioeconomic backgrounds and of various intellectual/physical abilities.

After deciding to enter the healthcare field, I gave up classroom instruction to teach history online for the college. This change allowed me to work full time as a Patient Care Advocate while attending Medical Assisting School.

English Instructor                                                                                                                                             2006-2007
Paid and volunteer English instructor to non-Native speakers in Kolkata, India.

Career Coach, Paul D. Camp                                                                                                                        2006-2008
I worked with high school seniors to draft college, military, or trade school opportunities with students of Suffolk Public Schools for Paul D. Camp while in graduate school.

Problem Solving and Adaptability
  • While new hires were given company-wide info, I created individual provider packets for incoming LPNs and MAs that I trained for Internal Medicine.
  • After student complaints of expensive textbooks, I instituted the first, “Free Textbook,” Western Civilization course for TCC Portsmouth, working with students to create a zero-cost book for themselves and future classes.
  • In the summer of 2018, I was part of a two-person team to develop the first 8 week online and textbook free U.S. History Course for TCC Portsmouth.
